Auckland FC legend Emiliano Tade has announced his retirement at the age of 38, having played nearly 300 games in New Zealand. The Argentine played at 9 FIFA Club World Cups and won 7 OFC Champions League titles with Auckland City. Tade joined Auckland FC's OFC Pro League set up this past season as a player-coach and will continue his coaching journey at the club. "I just love being around football, coaching the younger players the past few years here and at my former clubs, is something I've really enjoyed". "I'm sure I'll still get the itch to play from the sidelines, but now is the right time for me to hang up the boots," said Tade. Auckland FC's Director of Football, Terry McFlynn, couldn't speak higher of Tade and his impact on the club's success in the OFC. "Not only was he a great player, but he is someone the younger lads in the squad could look up to. A real leader on the pitch and on the sidelines". "He was such a big part in helping us achieve our goals in the OFC, and we're thrilled that he'll be with us next season."
